Josefov Summer School

Since 2017, the Performativity Research Centre has been organising the post-disciplinary Josefov Summer School in cooperation with the Department of Theatre Studies at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno, the Institute of Polish Culture at the Faculty of Polish Studies of the University of Warsaw, and since 2022 also with the Department of Theatre Studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.

Performance/Performativity Workshop 2019

During an informal gathering in the House of Arts in Brno, scholars and practitioners from across the social sciences and humanities, as well as art professionals, presented their usage of the concepts of performance/performativity in their research and artistic work. Invited guests: Tereza Konývková, Cabinet for Theatre and Drama Research, Faculty of Theatre, JAMU in Brno; Alice Koubová, Institute of Philosophy, Czech Academy of Sciences; Tomáš Ruller, Performance Studio, FaVU VUT Brno; Csaba Szaló, Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University, Brno; Milan Zvada, Department of Dramaturgy, Directing and Theatre Studies, Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica.

Terrains of Performance

Drawing up on the Performance/Performativity Workshop of 2019, a collective monograph, Terrains of Performance, was published that gathered twenty contributors from the arts, academia and other, hybrid spheres, which explores the theory and methodology of performance studies in the Czech milieu. The book was published by AMU Press – the Publishing House of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (NAMU) in 2022.
