Practical Information for Your Stay in Olomouc
Welcome to Olomouc and to Palacký University. This page provides simple practical information for international guests attending the workshop organised on the occasion of the Flora Theatre Festival.

Public Transport
Olomouc has a convenient public transport network of trams and buses. Trams serve mainly the city centre and nearby areas, while buses connect the centre with other parts of the city. During temporary closures or route changes, replacement buses may operate instead of trams.
Public transport is operated by DPMO – Dopravní podnik města Olomouce. Timetables, fares and service updates are available on the DPMO website. You can also search for connections via IDOS, the Czech public transport journey planner.

Tickets
To use public transport in Olomouc, you need a valid ticket. Tickets can be purchased in several ways, including the DPMO mobile app, the IDSOK mobile app, ticket machines, parking meters, selected newsstands and tobacco shops, or from the driver with a surcharge.
Please remember that basic paper tickets must be validated after boarding the vehicle. Travelling without a valid ticket may result in a fine.
Health Insurance
Guests from EU countries should bring their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). The EHIC covers necessary medical care during a temporary stay in the Czech Republic. It is valid in EU countries and also in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Palacký University recommends arranging additional medical insurance as well.
Medical Care
Palacký University provides information on medical services available to international students and guests. In many cases, the doctor or medical facility will communicate directly with your insurance company. In some cases, you may need to pay for treatment first and then request reimbursement from your insurance provider.
